Within Milestone Day Treatment and Deaf Services are a variety of art therapy groups and expressive therapy groups  - painting, drawing, ceramics, music, and poetry to name a few. I approached Jennifer Macioce, who is the director of Milestone Day Treatment, in the summer of 2008 about starting a photo group to incorporate with the other art groups. Jennifer liked the idea and we quickly started the group with 4 curious artists. As the weekly meetings progressed, the photo group has seen many members come and go as they were introduced to the camera some for the first time and others for a refresher course. In the past 4 years the original members have shown a strong commitment and ongoing advancement in not only their photography skills, but also in their attitudes, personalities, and overall well being. It’s such a joy to see them working as we go on field trips with the cameras and then to experience their accomplishments in the many exhibits we’ve had.
This blog is a much deserved portion of the photo group. It will allow the members to show recent work as well as an archive of past exhibits. It will give information on the current status of the photo group and future news. Please check back frequently for updates and to learn more about us.
